About The New Forest Mind Clinic - Our Mission and Team

About Me

Hello, and welcome, I’m really glad you’re here.

My name is Sophia (she/her) and I’m a qualified mental health nurse and high-intensity CBT therapist offering psychotherapy in the New Forest and online across the UK.

I’m also mum to a brilliant 13‑year‑old daughter and to Alfie, my 2‑year‑old Cockapoo, who may occasionally pop into sessions if that feels comforting to you. I hold a BSc Hons Degree in Psychology, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing and most recently completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in High-Intensity Psychological Therapy. Alongside my private practice, I work within the NHS, supporting individuals with a range of mental health difficulties using evidence-based approaches.

I have lived experience of significant mental health challenges and am neurodivergent, with ADHD and autistic traits. Coming to understand my own neurodivergence has been an important part of making sense of both my difficulties and my strengths, and it has deeply shaped how I think about psychological wellbeing. As a result, one of my key areas of passion and current professional development is learning about and developing therapy that is genuinely neurodivergent‑affirming and flexible, rather than expecting people to mould themselves to a rigid therapeutic model. Alongside this, I am deeply committed to the anti‑pathologisation of trauma and to challenging the stigma often attached to personality diagnoses.

When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me walking in the New Forest, catching up with friends over coffee, or exploring my favourite place - Snowdonia. I discovered hiking around six years ago, and it quickly became much more than a hobby. Being outdoors helps me slow down, gain clarity, and reconnect with what matters most to me: freedom, connection, and adventure. These values gently shape how I work with clients too.

If you’re looking for therapy or coaching that truly takes you as a whole person into account, including your life experiences, identity, and the way your mind works, you’re very welcome to get in touch. I know how daunting booking your first session can be so I offer a free 10-15 minute telephone call to introduce myself, answer any questions you have and explore together whether working with me feels like the right fit for you.
